Dina Terrel and Kemarrie Phillips

Kemarrie Phillips, 20, of Pontiac, admitted last week to killing a female Lyft driver in 2022. She was the mother three.

The Oakland Press reports Phillips pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and felony firearms in the slaying of Lyft driver Dina Terrell, 49, of Eastpointe, who was found in Pontiac in the front seat of her car, with a gunshot wound to the head on Oct. 21, 2022.

Phillips was identified as a suspect through a Lyft app on the victim's phone, the publication reports.

Sentencing is set for June 25 in Oakland County Circuit Court.

A GoFundMe page organized by a niece has raised more than $9,000. It  states:

Know that your support means everything to us as we navigate this painful time. It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of my aunt Dina May, who was unexpectedly murdered while driving for Lyft on October 21, 2022.

To say that we are shocked is an understatement and unfortunately we are not prepared to pay for funeral services and house expenses that she left behind for her 3 sons.

My aunt was a straight to the point kind of woman, and had no time for funny business. She has touched so many peoples lives and brought joy to many hearts and will be truly missed by everyone. She will forever be a fearless breast cancer warrior/survivor. Some of you have reached out and asked how you can help us during this time. Know that your kindness is much appreciated as we maneuver through this heartbreaking moment. We kindly ask, if you are able to donate funds towards the funeral service, and house expenses as we hope to carry out all of Dina’s final wishes.Thank you again for supporting our family during this time.
