He's not swooping over downtown Detroit, but a sidewalk-level sighting Monday of Henry Cavill dressed as Big Blue with an iconic "S" on his chest is noteworthy as the first public glimpse of Batman's adversary on a Detroit movie set.

An entertainment site called Just Jared today posts four long-lens snapshots of the 31-year-old British actor outside the old Wayne County Building on Randolph Street downtown, the latest site of filming for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," a 2016 movie. The photographer isn't identified.

An ankle-length black bathrobe hides the superhero's cape and most of his costume, but check out those snazzy red boots -- footwear Pope Benedict might have coveted.

Cavill also played Superman in "Man of Steel," a 2013 film by director Zack Snyder -- who directs the current production. And next year we'll see the U.K. performer on screen as Napoleon Solo in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."

There's no word on how long the crew will be at the Beaux Arts-style landmark on Randolph. Upcoming scenes will be shot at the Nicholson Terminal & Dock Company in River Rouge, according to the On Location Vacations site for gawkers.

Crew signs have been spotted around the site and set construction is reportedly underway. There is still no word exactly when filming begin at Nicholson, located at 60 E Great Lakes St.
