Tornado Confirmed in Rochester Hills

September 22, 2014, 6:27 AM

Floods sucker-punched the Metro Detroit area in the summer. On Sunday, Rochester Hills took a hit from something else on mother nature's scary menu.

The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado with 90 mph gusts touched down Sunday at 5:57 a.m., WXYZ reports. At least  30 homes were damaged, but there were no injuries.

The station reported that the tornado was categorized as an EF-1 tornado.  EF is a standard measurement for a tornado. It stands for Enhance Fujita. The measurement ranges from F0 to AF5. An AF1 is the second-weakest tornado level.
