So long Cadillac. Well, sort of.

You've decided to find a fancy home in the Big Apple at time when it's hip to say you're based in Detroit.

The Detroit Free Press writes that GM plans to move Cadillac's headquarters to New York next year to bolster its competitive profile against luxury leaders BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lexus.

The Freep writes that the new office will have about 100 employees.

But don't feel hurt, Detroit. Cadillac isn't totally abandoning you.

Cadillac product development, engineering and manufacturing will remain here, the Freep reports.

The announcement comes as Cadillac is experiencing a 5 percent drop in sales this year.  -- Allan Lengel
