Perfect Crime? Masked Gunman Drives Off With Armored Car in Troy

October 01, 2014, 11:52 AM

In what could be a made-for-TV movie, a masked gunman stole a Total armored car in Troy Wednesday morning and later abandoned the vehicle, minus the money.

WWJ reports that the gunman stole the vehicle around 9:25 a.m. at the Troy Athens High School parking lot on John R Road just north of Wattles Road. The vehicle was making a scheduled stop at the school.

“A black male wearing a black hoodie and a ski mask, rolled up on a bicycle and approached the armored car that was sitting in front of the school,” Troy Police Captain Redmond told WWJ’s Ron Dewey. “One of the drivers of the armored car got out, the black male pointed a gun at him and demanded the keys for the vehicle.”

The suspect left his bike behind and the armored car workers went into the school to report the theft.

The vehicle was discovered a short time later at Troy International Church of God on Wattles Road, WWJ reports.  The money was missing.
