A 20-year-old Ann Arbor man who proclaimed his goal was to be the main heroin supplier for University of Michigan students, has been charged in the heroin death of a music student earlier this year, MLive reports.

John Counts of MLive reports that Brandon Phillips was arraigned last month on several drug charges, including delivery of heroin that caused the death of 20-year-old Bruce Ketterer in May. A preliminary examination had been scheduled for last Thursday, but has been rescheduled for November.

MLive reports at the time of his death, Ketterer himself was facing charges of providing heroin that caused an overdose to one of his friends, who did not die.  Two of Ketterer’s friends have also been charged with drug crimes.

MLive writes:

In fact, Ketterer was hoping to get the charges reduced by working with the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET) and setting up a buy with Phillips, the report says. Instead, he was found dead in his bed by roommates at their rented house in the 100 block of West Madison the night of May 26.
