Detroit Cass Tech football star Jayru Campbell got a break in court on Monday in the case involving the alleged assault of his ex-girlfriend right after he had been released from jail after serving time for body-slamming a school security guard.

Fox 2 reports that the felony charges against Campbell were dismissed by 36th District Court Judge Ruth Carter. Those charges included intent to do great bodily harm, unarmed robbery and fraudulent use of a computer.

Campbell, 17, still faces a misdemeanor, a domestic violence charge that carries a maximum penalty of  93-days in jail.

He remains in jail for a circuit court probation violation hearing.
