This slide posted online Thursday morning describes a happy ending to story two days earlier.

Bob Seger ponies up about $4,000 to replace two saws swiped during fire-fighting last weekend, reports WCSX, which had considered staging a fund-raser to help Ladder Company 22.

Morning host Jim O'Brien of the Ferndale classic rock station tells what happened next:

We reached out to Bob Seger’s office to see if they’d let us auction off a guitar autographed by Bob. (He’s always been gracious supporting local charities.) Next day the phone rings, it’s Bob office and they told us “don’t wait to raise money, we’ll buy both saws . . . just send us the bill”.

That was it. No strings attached. Just get these firefighters the saws they need to save lives. Bob freakin’ Seger. . . .

So the order was placed last night [Wednesday] and the saws are on their way. The firefighters at Ladder 22 say thank you. The City of Detroit says thank you. It was going to take them 30-45 days just to procure the funds to make the order. Now they can spend it on other firefighter equipment that’s sorely needed.

Original article, Tuesday morning:

For the second time in less than two years, an expensive chainsaw and large K-14 saw were stolen of the rig of Detroit Fire Department's Ladder Co. 22 — this time while they battled a blaze, Katrease Stafford reports in the Free Press.

They were at a fire on Dundee Street near Grand River, and area where there have been about 10 fires in a three-block area within the past three days, firefighter Jeremy Mullins tells Stafford.

The saws cost about $2,000 apiece.

After the first theft, firefighters secured the saw compartment. But Ladder 22's rig is in the repair shop, Stafford writes, so the firefighters are using a temporary pickup truck with a pump on the back. Mullins said firefighters were unable to secure the saws, leaving the equipment vulnerable.

"Be on the lookout!!" says a Facebook post with this photo at the Detroit Firehouse page.
