Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera had ankle surgery Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
After deliberation, the first baseman decided on the operation to remove bone spurs in his right ankle and to repair a stress fracture in his foot, MLB.com reports.
The site reported that the surgery will shorten his offseason training regimen for the second consecutive year.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C.
Cabrera had ankle problems during the season hobbed on the field at times.
