"Burn," the Documentary on Detroit Firefighters, Wins Award at Tribeca
April 29th, 2012, 4:42 PM
Detroit has been burning since the mid-1960s, even before the firestorm that was the 1967 civil disturbance. The number of fires in the past few years is almost always greater than the number of fires when Detroit had 2 million people in the 1950s, but the department's rigs and manpower have been cut nearly in half.
"Burn" introduces viewers to the men and women of the Detroit Fire department who are on the front lines of defending Detroit from this natural enemy. As the Tribeca literature explains, "Burn" drives us straight into the heart-pounding fire and introduces us to the characters and controversies that make up the most overworked and underequipped firehouse in the country."
