Paraplegic Man's Leg Goes Flying in Fireworks Mishap in Hazel Park

Inevitably a story surfaces about Fourth of July fireworks and a severe injury.

The WWJ website reports that a 21-year-old paraplegic man in a wheelchair lost a portion of his left leg just below knee while setting off fireworks in Hazel Park around 10 p.m.

WWJ reported that the explosion blew a portion of his leg about 50 feet across the street. The leg hit a neighbor's house.

The man was listed in stable condition, the station reported.
