A 51-year-old homeless man stole an unattended ambulance from a Pontiac hospital and told police he was headed to a topless bar, the Oakland Press reports.

The keys were in the ignition. The man, who has mental health issues, is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on car theft charges, the paper reported.

The man swiped the unlocked Star EMS vehicle outside the emergency room at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac around 11 p.m. Sunday, Mitch Hotts writes in The Oakland Press. EMT workers had just rushed a patient to the hospital.

The man was arrested and the ambulance was recovered in Sterling Heights.

“They asked him what was going on and he said ‘I’m going to the Booby Trap to see a dancer,’” McCabe said, referring to a former topless bar on Eight Mile Road in Detroit that is now closed.
