After being in the national limelight for quite some time, shepherding through a historical Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy, Kevyn Orr's next chapter in his career isn't likely to top all that.

What to do next?

Orr, who lives in suburban D.C. with his wife and two children,  says he's not sure.

Matt Helms of the Detroit Free Press writes:

Orr, who served a key role in Chrysler's 2009 bankruptcy shepherded by the federal government, said Wednesday he thought the automaker's Chapter 11 filing "was the top of my career." Then Detroit came calling again, with an offer by Gov. Rick Snyder to be the city's emergency manager and, ultimately, to lead the city through a bankruptcy that shaved $7 billion of its $18 billion in debt.

"I don't know how you try to top it," Orr told Free Press reporters and editors hours after he, Snyder and Mayor Mike Duggan jointly announced the end of Detroit's bankruptcy.

Orr said he has had no job offers and hasn't done any job interviews. He said he plans to take the rest of the year off before deciding what his next step will be. He joked that his wife, Dr. Donna Neale, a Johns Hopkins surgeon and assistant professor, will make sure he's back to work after the new year.
