The "Church Lady" on Saturday Night Live would not approve. As you recall, she hated Satan.
Nonetheless, the Lee DeVito of the Metro Times reports that the Satanic Temple is erecting its own Satanic display on the Capitol grounds entitled "Snaketivity Scene."
The paper writes that the Michigan State Capitol Commission granted approval for the display as a Nativity scene was under consideration at the location as well.
On its Facebook page, the group writes:
The Satanic Temple of Detroit "Snaketivity Scene" will be on display in Lansing this holiday season! Just as the Nativity represents a mythology of the birth of Christ, the Snake is symbolic of the birth human enlightenment and liberation. Happy Holidays from The Satanic Temple of Detroit!
You might recall that Dana Carvey's Church Lady character on "Saturday Night Live" hated Satan. He portrayed her in skits from 1986-90.
