Gov. Snyder May Need Wife's OK to Run for President

December 26, 2014, 6:51 AM

Gov. Rick Snyder for president?

Frankly, it's hard to believe he has enough charisma to take on that post. Vice president, maybe.

Whatever the case, Lansing political reporter Tim Skubick interviewed Snyder and his wife Sue for Fox 2 and found the decision to run may rest with the wife.

Skubick reports that so far, Sue Snyder has not given her husband the green light.

"I don't want to say enough is enough, but," Sue Snyder said. "I hope I'm not being selfish, but ..."

Skubick reports that the more she talks, the clearer it gets that Snyder would have to get the OK from Sue.

Skubick points out that Snyder has not been encouraging speculation about any presidential aspirations, some of which has come from the national media.

But Snyder says the talk is generating free advertising for Michigan.

"People talking about Michigan is a good thing for all of us," Snyder said. "Are we getting more or less coverage because people are speculating."

"In a positive context, not about me, but about Michigan."  -- Allan Lengel
