Reporter Andrea Isom, who delivers news in distinctive style during her signature "On The Edge" segments, has resigned from Fox 2.

In a memo to the staff, Fox 2 News Director Kevin Roseborough said he  wished her "the very best."  He said she had "resigned effective immediately to pursue opportunities outside local news business."

The memo said: "Andrea leaves an indelible Mark after a dozen years of street reporting here. She is known to all of metro Detroit for her intelligence, compassion and commitment to doing journalism the right way. As coworkers, we have also known her kindness, boisterous laughter and priceless smile, all of which will carry her far."

The memo quotes Isom as saying "now it is time for me to turn the page on my career here and take on another journey in life. I love you all, be well, be safe, and live life on the edge!"

Isom was well regarded at the station, and some staffers were surprised by her departure.

In her bio on Fox 2, Isom, a native of Cleveland and a graduate of Ohio State University, writes:

I may not have been born here, but I AM A DETROITER NOW! My heart and soul is invested in the momentum, the potential and the rich tradition of The Motor City.

My home at Fox 2, is "On The Edge" every night at 11:00 pm. Over the past 10 years, my stories have revealed the tragedy of crimes, the violation of victims, the spirit of the underdogs and the courage of Detroit's heroes.

I truly enjoy spending my time with Detroiters on the job and off. It is an honor meeting, volunteering and sharing stories with people with so much passion.
