More High Tech for the Motown? Amazon.com May Be Coming
When it comes to the possibility of any big tech firm opening an office in the Motor City, well, people here get a little giddy.
The Free Press reports that Amazon.com appears in the early stages of creating a software development center in Detroit.
As evidence of that, the Freep points to "two job listings from the Internet retailer."
The Freep writes:
Having a high-tech Amazon presence in Detroit would be a huge boost for efforts to transform the long-battered city into a tech hub. It would also provide new ammunition for brick-and-mortar retailers in the state who have been pushing for sales taxes to be collected on online purchases made at Amazon and other Internet shopping sites.
