Update: Scherzer's 7-Year Deal Reportedly Worth $210 Million

Max Scherzer's seven-year deal with the Washington Nationals is worth $210 million, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports via Twitter.

The right-hander will receive $15 million per year for 14 years in an agreement deferring half of his income beyond the on-field commitment. .

Some reports speculated that the contract could be worth as much as $200 million. Scherzer had rejected the Tigers' offer of a six-year, $144 million contract.

Tony Paul of The Detroit News has Tigers manager Brad Ausmus' reaction late Sunday:

"Obviously, I think Max is one of the best pitchers in the game, and we will miss him. I will miss him taking the mound every five days, and miss him and his great sense of humor in the clubhouse. I wish him the best."
