Fox 2's Charlie LeDuff, one of the more colorful characters in the Detroit media, is sticking around.

LeDuff tells Deadline Detroit Friday that he just signed a new contract with Fox to continue doing a national segment, "The Americans WIth Charlie LeDuff," which airs on local Fox news stations around the country, including Fox 2.

He was vague about details of the contract.

"They'll let me do it until it sucks," he said, adding that Detroit will remain his home base.

Though the series is for a national  audience, he said: "We'll be doing a healthy dose of Detroit. Detroit is America. As Detroit goes, so goes the country."

He says an illustration of that is Atlantic City, which has now hired an emergency manager, and Kevyn Orr as a consultant.

LeDuff's last contract had expired a few weeks ago and he took time off "to gather my head, study, read, figure out where we're going to take this show."
