State's High School Graduation Rates Continue to Improve

Some good news for Michigan's high schools.

Shawn Lewis of the Detroit News reports that Michigan's statewide graduation rate rose last year for the third straight year. At the same time, dropout rates fell. 

The News reports that for 2013-14, the state's four-year high school  graduation rate was 78.58 percent, up from 76.96 percent in 2012-13, 76.24 percent in 2011-12 and 74.33 percent in 2010-11.

Of Michigan's 124,279 high school seniors, 97,664 graduated in four years, while 11,943 dropped out, the News reports.
