Jimmy Buffett Tickets on Sale Friday

New spot, same island vibe:

Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band return June 25 at to Detroit, where they've packed the ballpark in 2012-14.

The site this time is West Riverfront Park at Jefferson and 10th Street, just west of Joe Louis Arena and Riverfront Apartments.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at OlympiaEntertainment.com, Joe Louis Arena, Fox Theatre, Ticketmaster and its outlets and Hockeytown Authentics in Troy (no service fee). To charge by phone, call (800) 745-3000.

Here's the cost:

  • Main floor: $49.50 to $139.50 ($62.55 to $159.05 via Ticketmaster)
  • Risers (bleachers): $49.50 to $89.50 ($62.55 to $104.35 through Ticketmaster)

Tom Wilson, head of Olympia Entertainment, gushes in a posted statement: 

“This is a chance to see the ultimate summer concert as it takes anchor in a truly unique setting on the water with nothing but our amazing city skyline as the backdrop, grass under your feet and stars above.”

Buffet, now 68, is marking the 40th anniversary of his first Top 40 album -- "A1A," which includes "A Pirate Looks at 40" and "Life Is Just a Tire Swing." 

The waterside Thursday night show, part of a tour called Workin' 'n' Playin', is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., a half-hour after park gates will open.

Radio station WYCD will give away an undisclosed number of tickets to fans who register here by Saturday night. 

Buffett, who prepares for the summer tour with three Southern shows this month, starts Workin' 'n' Playin' in Houston on May 28 and plans 11 stops before he and the band fly to Paris in September for two concerts.
