It's never too late to land in the right spot: A vehicles-focused movie event relocates to Detroit next month after two years in Monterey, Calif.

The AutoMoto Detroit Film and Arts Festival is scheduled May 28-30 to coincide with the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.

It'll feature at least five feature-length films and at least five shorts (preliminary list here), as well as filmmaker remarks and opening-night receptions.

Screenings include "Havana Motor Club," a 2015 documentary about drag racing in Cuba, and "Why We Ride," a 2013 film (trailer below) about motorcycle culture that was shown at last August's AutoMoto Festival in California.

Brief coverage at DBusiness, which calls the three-year-old event "an inaugural film festival," says:

Other films include "1," the story of Formula 1 motor racing, and "Going Attractions," a documentary about America’s drive-in theaters. Screenings will be held at The Fillmore Detroit, Madison Building at Witherell and Broadway, and Cinema Detroit (3420 Cass), along with various Midtown locations.

Former Ford Motor Co. GT designer Camilo Pardo and Dennis Pittsenbarger from Discovery Channel’s series Highway to Sell will attend the event.

Individual tickets go on sale this week at the The Fillmore Detroit, a festival representative posts Tuesday afternoon on Facebook with a link to this article.

Tickets for all screenings are $35 until May 14, plus a $1.87 fee, at Eventbrite. They rise to $45 in mid-May.

A festival schedule is posted. Here's the trailer for "Why We Ride," a 2013 motorcycle film showing May 29 at 8:30 p.m. in Cinema Detroit:
