Taylor Student Posts Emotional Video About Being Bullied

April 24, 2015, 7:03 AM

Bullying in school is a problem.

We saw it recently with a black student in Bloomfield Hills who was taunted by white students and repeatedly called the n-word.

Now the latest:

Taylor High junior Dana Hamrick posted a heartbreaking video on social media speaking out about being targeted by bullies, Erika Erickson of Fox 2 reports.  It's been shared by thousands on Facebook.

Hamrick says on the video that  the school hasn't done enough and she has to hide from people during lunch to avoid being bullied.

"Please understand how your words [make me] feel," Hamrick says in her video. "How your words affect people.

"I am sitting here, bawling my eyes out and you tell me to get out of your sight."

"One of the vice principals, he would threaten to suspend me for three days because I wasn't in the cafeteria ... getting bullied," she said on the video.

Hamrick tells the station she posted the video Monday and school administrators asked her to take it down. She did and then reposted it Wednesday.

The school said it contacted her parents after the video was posted to have a meeting. It reportedly offered to intervene months ago, but she rebuffed any help.

A statement says Taylor High takes bullying seriously and immediately addresses the issue when raised.
