Warren Police Lieutenant Arrested at Detroit Bar

A Warren police commander was drinking at a Detroit bar and now faces criminal charges.

Detroit police arrested the lieutenant after responding to a report of a  fight Wednesday around 11:50 p.m. at The Well, a bar on Randolph Street in downtown Detroit, Norb Franz of The Macomb Daily reports. The suburban law enforcer is accused of interfering with a police investigation and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

Detroit police spokeswoman Sgt. Cassandra Lewis told the paper that a breath test was administered to the officer, but wouldn't gibve the results, the paper says.

Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green said the officer, an an 18-year veteran of the force, was off -duty and was released from Detroit police custody at 6 a.m. Thursday. He has been placed on administrative leave, The Macomb Daily reports. 

One media report says he was involved in a fight and another describes him as trying to break up a fight.
