Can the 'tough nerd" image sell nationally? We may soon find out.

Gov. Rick Snyder mingled with donors at the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas on Friday, Ben Jacobs of The Guardian reports. On Saturday,  ex-Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota said:

“I met with Rick Snyder yesterday. He’s running. He’s running.”

In a talk with the RJC board, Snyder himself was not as explicit. Ari Fleischer, a board member and former spokesman for President George W Bush, told the Guardian: “[He] didn’t say to the board that he was running. He made a real strong presentation about his results and successes in Michigan.”

Fleischer added: “You have to wonder why people to come to our meetings and it’s probably because he’s thinking of running.”

At the Detroit Free Press late Saturday afternoon, Paul Egan posts Coleman's comment and notes that Michigan's governor as an active, high-profile travel schedule:

Tonight, Snyder attends the White House Correspondents' Dinner as a guest of Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor of New York City.

He is speaking next week at a financial conference in California and is visiting New York in early May.
