Garage Deaths of Dearborn Heights Cop and Friend Remain a Mystery

May 19, 2015, 7:58 AM

It's been four days since Dearborn Heights Police Sgt. John Burdick and his friend were found dead in a garage, and authorities still don't know the cause of death, Fox 2 reports.

Erika Erickson of Fox 2 reports that Michigan State Police are investigating the matter, and are denying reports that evidence of drug use was found at the scene. There was also no trauma to the bodies, and investigations have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning.

Burdick's body was found in the garage at a home in the  8500 block of Lochdale Street  with James McEwen. They were close friends and neighbors. McEwen shared the home with his girlfriend.

Fox 2 reports that the medical examiners office Monday says the preliminary autopsy was inconclusive and required further investigation. Toxicology reports have still not been completed.
