Tuesday, 10:47 a.m. update: Detroit police arrested three men in connection with a crime spree early Monday morning that included the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man they were trying to carjack, WDIV reports.
Police Chief James Craig says investigators worked hard around-the-clock to find the "three-man crew," the station adds Tuesday morning.

Gas stations in Detroit continue to be a crime magnet. The latest:
A 31-year-old man in a Mustang was murdered Monday morning while trying to escape a carjacking at a gas station at Gratiot and Dubois on Detroit's east side at 2:30 a.m. Monday, Ingrid Kelley of Fox 2 reports.
It all happened when three suspects wearing facemasks and hoodies pulled up in a car and tried to carjack the man, Fox 2 reports. The man took off in the car, but the suspects fired at the car and he crashed a short distance away.
Police say shortly before the attempted carjacking, the three suspects committed another carjacking at Grand River and Heritage just before 2 a.m. then another carjacking at 2:30 at St. Joseph and Mitchell. No one was injured in those incidents.
The man has a 9-year-old son, WDIV reports..
