The fast-growing Pie Five Pizza Co., which offers a variety of crusts including whole grain and gluten-free  --  is entering the Michigan market, with plans for multiple stores, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The first location is set to open Friday in a retail strip at the northwest corner of 12 Mile and Telegraph in Southfield, Sylvia Rector of the Freep reports, and a second location is set for June in Southfield's City Centre.

A third is slated for Orchard Lake and Maple roads in West Bloomfield, and another is planned for downtown Detroit in one of Dan Gilbert's buildings by fall.

The stores are the first of about 155 fast-casual Pie Five pizzerias planned in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio over the next seven years, according to Rector.

Pie Five allows guests to top their pizzas any way they choose for a single price of $6.99, choosing from four kinds of crust, seven sauces and 28 fresh toppings. The pizzas bake in custom-designed ovens in less than 3 minutes. The company also serves fresh, made-to-order salads, as well as house-baked brownies and cookie "pies."
