In a painful blow, the Campbell Ewald marketing communication agency in Detroit lost a U.S. Navy contract after 15 years to New York-based Young & Rubicam Inc., Crain's Detroit Business reports.

The one-year contact for recruiting campaign support is worth $84.4 million, Bill Shea writes, and four one-year options bring the contract's cumulative value to $457.4 million.

Layoffs could result, obviously.

The agency lost its $280-million Cadillac account in December and lost  a lucrative U.S. Postal Service earlier, Crain's notes.
