Lidstrom, Fedorov and Pete Karmanos Make It to the Hockey Hall of Fame

And deservingly so . . .

Former Red Wings stars Nicklas Lidstrom and Sergei Fedorov were elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, along with women's hockey star Angela Ruggiero of Harper Woods and Peter Karmanos Jr., the former CEO of Compuware, who is majority owner of the Carolina Hurricanes. Karmanos also owned the OHL's Plymouth Whalers before the team moved to Flint.

Karmanos was elected to the Hall of Fame in the builders category, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

Ruggiero played for Team USA in 10 world championships and four Olympics, winning a gold medal at Nagano in 1998. She retired as a player in 2011.
