A controversy has been brewing in Ann Arbor over an anti-Israeli flag that happens to be hanging outside the home of a Jewish activist.

The Arab American News reports that 11 households have signed a petition asking Henry Herskovitz (pictured here)  to take down the Israeli flag that has a red circle with a line through it over the Jewish star.

The paper reports that Herskovitz has responded with a five-page letter defending his freedom of speech.

Herskovitz is a member of Jewish Witnesses for Peace and Friends (JWPF), a group that has been highly critical of Israel's policies involving the Palestinians.
