Italian Ice Shop Opens Downtown With Help from Mitch Albom

Detroit Water Ice Factory, an Italian ice company, opened Tuesday in the former Ben & Jerry’s site at the Compuware Building, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

The downtown business will donate its profits to groups supported by Freep columnist Mitch Albom's  S.A.Y. Detroit charity, Sherri Welch writes.

Albom covers launch costs for the venture and Bedrock Real Estate Services  is providing the space at no cost. Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries will also have a role, Crain's reports
