Detroit Pawn Shop Tries to Sell Dr. Kevorkian's Van

August 25, 2015, 6:10 AM

The legend of Dr. Jack Kevorkian, aka "Dr. Death," lives on, this time through his former Volkswagen van.

Jason Carr of Fox 2 reports that American Jewelry and Loan in Detroit, the pawn shop featured on Tru Tv's "Hard Core Pawn" show, is selling the van that once belonged to Kervorkian, who became famous for his assisted suicides. Kervorkian died in June 2011.

"If I can get $40,000 which is what was going to be my offer, I would be more than happy to sell it,"  pawnshop owner Le Gold tells Fox 2.. "This is an iconic piece of Detroit history."

The vehicle doesn't run. The interior is all beat up, and it hasn't moved in 2 1/2 years.

Fox 2's Carr suggests Gold ask Kevorkian's attorney Geoffrey Fieger is he's interested. "You never know. You know I should approach him," Gold says.
