If true, the motive is admirable. Still, the act is totally inappropriate, not to mention illegal and dangerous.

Aaron Baskerville of WXYZ reports that the family of Brian Randolph, 23,  says the  Oakland County man robbed a Vibe Credit Union in South Lyon earlier this month to pay for his young daughter's chemo treatments. He was arrested Aug. 14, two days after the robbery.

The family says his 1-year-old daughter's insurance was abruptly canceled, so he needed money to pay for the chemo.

His girlfriend tells Baskerville: "I'm not sure what he was thinking at that point, but at the end of the day the only thing I can think about is him trying to take care of his child."

His aunt says: "The only thing he kept telling me is 'I want to be the man I'm supposed to be. I want to provide for my child.'"
