$5-Million Loan Opens the Way for Renovations at Former Corktown Inn

An investment group that purchased the 144-room, former Corktown Inn on Trumbull in Detroit,  has secured a $5 million construction loan, clearing the way for a new renovation for what is being billed as an affordable luxury hotel, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

Kirk Pinho of Crain's reports that the hotel is expected to open pen early next year. In all, Crain's reports that the hotel will undergo $9 million in renovations. The hotel will have multiple bar areas, a swimming pool, restaurants, a fitness center, artwork by Detroit artists, a coffee bar and a private meeting room that can seat about 50, Crain's reports.

Pinho reports that an investment group with Detroit ties purchased the hotel for $70,000 a year ago and has rebranded it as the Trumbull and Porter.
