TV Chef Mario Batali Praises Detroit Cuisine and Street Art

Detroit restaurants and street art increasingly attract out-of-town visitors.

A prominent one this weekend was Mario Batali, the popular TV chef who has a Traverse City summer home. He shows Detroit love this past weekend as his family was "celebrating my son 's birthday in style," he tweets. to celebrate "weekend.

"Batali's visit started Saturday evening with a trip to the venerable Michael Symon's Roast," Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit reports.

The next day he had a distillery tour and vodka tasting drinks at Our/Detroit and brunch at Gold Cash Gold , she adds. 

Wearing orange Crocs and brightly striped socks (don't judge), he also hit Eastern Market to take in the new murals and painted Heidelberg Street dots with Tyree Guyton.
