Detroit Homicides Down; Other Major Crimes Slightly Up

When it comes to homicides, a decrease is always worth noting, but not necessarily worth celebrating. Homicides in Detroit dropped from 102 in 2011 to 98 this year over the same stretch of time. In other words, it was a drop of 4 homicides.  At the same time, other major crimes slightly increased in the city. -- A.L.
