Local Chinese Association Tries to Lure China's Alibaba to Detroit

February 01, 2016, 7:23 AM

Troy-based Detroit Chinese Business Association is trying to sell China's Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.  on Detroit.

Alibabi is the largest e-commerce provider and fourth-most-valuable company in the world, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

"We're looking for them to open an office for strategic business partnerships and potential investment opportunities as well,"  said Milan Stevanovich, vice president of global strategy for the local Chinese association. "Then, hopefully, they can open a regional or North American office here in Detroit."
