Here We Go Again: Metro Detroit Motorists See Gas Prices Spike

They're up, they're down, they're up.

Yes, Metro Detroit gas prices are spiking, the supposed result of problems at three Midwestern refineries and a pipeline shutdown in Wisconsin, the Detroit News reports.

Prices rose for a fifth straight day to an average of $3.87 a gallon on Thursday. The average prices has risen 22 cents a gallon during the past week.

The good news, if there is any, is that industry analysts say the region is unlikely to come close to its high for the year of $4.08 a gallon, the News reports.
