Man With Lots of Guns Threatened to Kill L. Brooks Patterson
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson likes to pride himself on being accessible to the public. But here's one guy he's glad he didn't invite over for a talk.
Police this week arrested James Walter Graves, 58, of Brandon Township on charges that he fired a shotgun and assaulted a woman, the Oakland Press reports.
When police arrested Graves, he said he wanted to kill Patterson and police officers, the paper reported. Graves is not charged with threatening Patterson. Police found more than a dozen handguns and long guns in his home.
Patterson says Graves called him last Monday afternoon to talk, but Patterson said he didn't recognize the name and declined.
"The thing that bothered me is this guy had called and said he wanted to come in and see me about a project," Patterson told the Oakland Press on Friday. "That gives you pause for thought when they try to get in your office."
"Normally I'm very accessible to the public," he said. "I'll make myself available."
