Cops: Man Fakes His Own Drowning After Spat With Girlfriend

A 46-year-old Farmington man is expected to face charges after apparently faking his own drowning Monday night at a Commerce Township gravel pit.

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of  a possible drowning, and when they arrived, they found a 39-year-old Milford woman who them the pair was swimming across the pit when her boyfriend disappeared. 

The sheriff's dive team was alerted, but called off after some of its members who arrived at the gravel pit found the man in the water, conscious and alert.

The pair had argued before the man disappeared, deputies said.
