Cabrera's Bat Thumps Bombers As Tigers Surge
If this week’s series at Comerica Park turns out to be a playoff preview, this could be another abbreviated October for the Yankees.
That's the way the New York Daily News described the Tigers' 6-5 victory over the Yankees Tuesday night at Comerica Park, in which red-hot Miguel Cabrera homered and had three RBIs, driving in the go-ahead runs with a two-run double in the fifth. Cabrera is hitting .355 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in eight games against the Bombers this season.
The Yankees saw one of their starting pitchers get roughed up by the Tigers for a second straight night, as Phil Hughes gave up four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. It was his worst start since June 20, when he allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings against the Braves.
