Diana Ross Gets an Unwanted New Hit (Not on the Radio)

April 14, 2016, 5:45 PM

A 22-year-old college senior failed to stop in the name of safety and smacked into a limousine bringing Diana Ross to a concert in Bethlehem, Pa.

"That's the biggest hit she's had in decades," quips a wag in Pennsylvania, where the crash happened.

"The 72-year-old was a passenger in a 2006 Lincoln Town Car limo," writes Tony Rhodin of Lehigh Valley Live, a news site covering the area. His article on Wednesday afternoon's crash adds:

The limo was struck by a 2009 Acura SUV that went through a stop sign, police Chief Mark DiLuzio said. After hitting the limo, the SUV struck a fire hydrant. . . .

Ross complained of head and neck pain and was treated by city paramedics, but said she would seek further care on her own, DiLuzio said.

She performed as scheduled Wednesday night and made no mention of the crash during her show.

SUV driver Jane Mousseau, 22, graduates next month.

Neither driver was hurt. Jane Mousseau, a Lehigh University journalism student from Maplewood, N.J., was ticketed.

A clever reader posts under Rhodin's article: "She should've told the Acura driver 'You can't hurry, love."

Another wisecracker says: "That's the biggest hit she's had in decades."

Ross, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame  member and 12-time Grammy nominee, continued a nine-show "In the Name of Love" tour that began March 31. She tweets Thursday:
