A Breakfast/Lunch Counter Called Pudding Head Coming to Corktown

Detroit can always use another breakfast joint. There's never enough.

Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit reports that Roseann Micallef, who grew up in Detroit's Corktown, but went on to live in New York and New Jersey for a number of years before returning home,  plans to open a casual breakfast and lunch counter and community-focused venue in Corktown this fall called Pudding Head. The plan is to lease part of a building at 2051 Rosa Parks Blvd., just south of Michigan Avenue.

She'll serve quick-service options for commuters, such as international hand pies — pasties, calzones, samosas, and Jamaican beef pies. The place will also have soups and salads.

"I feel really protective of my neighborhood in Corktown and I really wanted to help the area retain that identity," she tells Eater.
