Filson, the Seattle-based manufacturer and outfitter, opened its first Michigan store on Friday at 441 W. Canfield in Midtown Detroit, on the same block as Shinola, Third Man Records, Jolly Pumpkin, and RunDetroit.
The store moved into a spot occupied from mid-2014 until recently by Willys Detroit, a clothing and accessory store.
Filson is part of Bedrock Manufacturing of Texas, which is the parent company for Willys, Shinola and Filson. (It's unrelated to Dan Gilbert's Bedrock Detroitt.)
“We’ve been outfitting Michigan residents for years through our catalogs and website, and are proud to be opening a store here," says Filson president and chief executive Gray Madden in a release.
The 1,100-square-foot store features apparel, bags and accessories. The store marks the opening Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. with live music.
