Detroit police have arrested a suspect in an attack at a west-side Detroit home that left a 62-year-old grandfather dead.
John Villneff's family says he died a hero.
Two bullets hit the 62-year-old Vietnam War veteran Wednesday night during a home invasion as he tried to protect his 12-year-old granddaughter, family members told the Free Press.
Villneff's daughter Melissa said he jumped in front of the girl because the robbers were trying to kill her because she was taking pictures of them.
In a strange twist to the incident, family members knew some of the attackers.
A waitress at a local coney island had warned Villneff about the neighborhood.
