Mark Wahlberg's Burger Joint in Greektown to Open in July

Competition for burger eaters is about to heat up a little in Detroit with the anticipated opening in July of Mark Walhlberg's burger restaurant, Wahlburgers in Greektown on Monroe, just down the block from the popular Five Guys burger joint. 

The chain restaurant is set to open July 23 at 569 Monroe St., Melody Baetens writes at The Detroit News. Mark Wahlberg owns the chain with brothers Paul and Wahlberg.

“Come down here and hang out,” said Wahlberg in the video filmed in Greektown. “We’re shooting the movie in town we’re going to be down here every night hanging out, come on down.,” said Wahlberg. 

The News reports that the Greektown location is the first of what is expected to be six shops in southeast Michigan.

Besides beef and turkey burgers, Walburgers serves a filet fish, chicken and portobello sandwich, hot dogs, salads, potato tots, sweet potato and regular fries and mac 'n cheese,
