Celebrity Chef Michael Symon, owner of the upscale- Roast restaurant in the Westin Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit, says he won't let presidential hopeful Donald Trump step foot into his two Cleveland restaurants later this month during the Republican convention at the Quicken Loans Arena.

"There's not a chance I'd let him into one of my restaurants," Symon said Thursday during a call-in to Cleveland sports talk radio station 92.3 The Fan, according to a report in Cleveland.com.

Henry Gomez of Cleveland.com writes that two of Symon's Cleveland eateries -- Lola and Mabel's BBQ -- are in close proximity to the Quicken Loans Arena where Trump is expected to accept the GOP presidential nomination. The convention runs from July 18-21.

"I come from a mixed political family, which is always fun around this time of the world,"Symon said during the radio interview. "I've been fortunate or unfortunate enough to meet him through the years. I'm not going to lie, he creeps me out a little bit."

"Anybody that knows me knows I'm not afraid to speak my mind, so there's that. But this isn't a Democratic/Republican thing, trust me. It's just that he creeps me out."

Symon, who frequently appears on the Food Network, opened Roast in 2008. In 2009, the Detroit Free Press named it Restaurant of the Year.
