Mike Murri Named WXYZ's Station Manager

Mike Murri, a 29-year veteran of WXYZ,  is moving on up.

The director of sales has been named to the new post of station manager, which means he'll oversee the day-to-day business side and news operation, according to the station.

“Mike has tremendous knowledge of the Detroit market and a history of success with the organization, WXYZ Vice-President and General Manager Ed Fernandez said in a statement posted on the station website. “More importantly, the passion and dedication he brings to his work makes him the ideal candidate to assume this role.”

Murri began his career with WXYZ as an Account Executive in 1983 and became Local Sales Manager in 1996, the station reported. He was named Director of Sales in 2001.

Murri is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. He currently serves on the Sales Advisory Board for ABC.
