WSU Students Again Will Live in Hotel St. Regis Because of Tight Campus Housing

August 25, 2016, 5:54 PM

For the second year in a row, because of the tight housing situation on the Wayne State University campus, some students   will be living in the Hotel St. Regis on West Grand Blvd., in the New Center area north of the main campus, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

"Housing is in high demand again this year at Wayne State," Tim Michael, associate vice president for business and auxiliary operations and chief housing officer, told Crain's via email, "Our campus residence halls and apartments are full and we have added around 50 temporary spaces on campus for overflow. We will also be housing around 40 WSU students at the St. Regis Hotel in New Center, similarly to last year. Those students will be supported by hotel maid service, a dedicated shuttle service to campus, and campus RAs living at the hotel with them to help them have a great start to the new year."

The university has plans to add hundreds of new housing units in the next few years to help meet demand, Crain's reports.
